Re: being sued and cannot afford a lawyer

Thank you for your posting.

Once you are served with papers, you have 30 days to file a written answer, or you will not get a chance to appear in court, as the plaintiff may win by default.

You can represent yourself, and I might recommend at least visiting with an attorney if you are served, to go over your legal defenses and the procedures involved, and take your case from there.

If you cannot afford an attorney, you may also wish to declare bankruptcy, not just for this case, which may be non-dischargeable, but for other reasons.

I hope that this answers your question, at least partially, but if you need more information, have other questions, or feel that you need legal representation, please feel free to contact me directly via email at [email protected]. Im happy to help in any way that I can.
