Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Tax costs

I was involved in a civil case which i won. I then proceeded to file a Memorandum of costs. The Attorney filed a motion to tax the costs. His Motion was granted. He now has to pay me for my court costs and not what i was seeking. Does this victory for him in any way mean I have to pay? or does it just mean that I will receive the monies granted and then he is out of my life?

Re: Tax costs

A Motion to Tax Costs seeks to reduce or limit the costs that you were seeking. The court should have (and probably did) issue an order specifically stating which costs were being reduced. In the end, that order tells you how much you are owed. Unless ordered otherwise, you do not owe any monies. Your only difficulty may be recovering the costs owed to you.
