Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California
Hi, I was in a terrible haste this afternoon in the courtroom. I used the regular pleading paper to file a cross complaint. Unknown to me there is no space to verify the complaint on the form. So I hand wrote every word of the verifcation on a sheet of paper, dated, signed and printed my name on it.
Will this suffice as a verification or am I doomed? The court was closing in five minutes and the forms people didnt have a different verification form, I sort of had no choice.

In general, cross-complaints do not need to be verified. What you did should be ok; at worst, the other side will demurrer and yu can then correct any problems.
I agree with Mr. Shers. The courts generally accept handwritten pleadings from litigants who represent themselves. If there is a technical defect, the court will most likely allow an amended cross-complaint in response to any demurrer or motion to strike filed by your opponent.
