threat on my life

can i sue someone made a verbal threat that they would have me poppped[killed] for 5 dollars within 5 days .have a witness also .also notified la sherrifs dept .

You might want to apply to the local court for an immediate temporary civil harassment restraining order. A hearing will then be ordered for about 20 days later, in which you can present all of your evidence to secure a permanent injunction.
