Ticket for failing to wear a seatbelt. Is that Criminal trial, Civil trial, or both?

It is not a crime, but an infraction punishable by a $20 fine plus Additional Overcharge of maybe $50. In most cases you can go to traffic school instead. You will get a mailer from the court explaining this.
