Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Tickets sold to wrong location

I wanted tickets for a play called Teatro ZinZanni, so I posted a wanted ad on San Franciscos Craig List. A man (who lives in Oakland--name removed-- called me saying he had tickets for this show and would seel them for $600. I accepted the offer. I overnighted the $600 cash and he then afterwards faxed me a confirmation number. That next day we left to San Francisco (we are 2 hours south of SF). When we arrived at the play, the thrid person who helped me realized they were for the play located in Seattle WA. I had to repurchase 4 tickets at a higher price. We noticed later on the fax in small print he says ''Teatro Zinzanni Seattle''. I didnt notice it, and neither did the first two staff members who tired to help me. That was the first time he EVER mentioned they were for the Seattle location. He never mentioned it via telephone. Moreover, he would only fax me the confirmation after he recieved the money. Is there anything I can do to get the money back? Thank you.

Re: Tickets sold to wrong location

He knew what he was doing since he responded to a SF Craigslist ad and lived in Oakland. Small claims court might be the way to go.

Hope you liked the show, despite the cost. I haven't seen it yet, and have lived in San Francisco for a few years.
