Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Title II Discrimination

Many Hostels will not rent beds unless you are an ''international traveler.'' Would this be a violation of Title II via National Origin? Do I have a case? I will not be rented a hostel in LA because I am American.

No, you are not being rented a bed because your are not traveling internationally. A German citizen who lives in the US also could not rent a bed. Moreover, reasonable differentiation [discrimination] among people is not a violation; the purpose of the organization is to give people traveling outside of their own country a cheap place to stay. If they had to rent to residents of the US they would have no space left for travelers. Do you wish to complain that they can not decide how far the person must be traveling?

Most Youth Hostels are non-profits I believe. Why do you want to give the a bad time when they provide a valuable service to people with little money [or who wish to spend less]? On the face of it, you seem angry and greedy; even if you had a case, no one would award you beyond a token $1.
