Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Tree Trimming Neighbors

Branches from the trees in my backyard extend over my neighbors property. The neighbor asked me to trim my trees back to the property line because they were hitting the roof of his garage. I consulted my landlord and he said it was the neighbors problem. Meanwhile the neighbor cuts the branches and throws them in my yard, damaging some yard lights. Do I have to dispose of these limbs? Is my landlord or me obligated to trim the branches away from his roof? It is impossible without tresspassing. I'm afraid to say anything to him about the lights and branches for fear he'll try to make me pay for a new roof, although I don't think its even damaged.

Re: Tree Trimming Neighbors

It's probably your landlord's responsibility,

although it may depend upon the terms of your lease.

Given the number of concerns expressed in your

message, you ought to consult with a real estate

attorney in your area, and be sure to bring your

lease with you.
