Urgent time out

I won a 30K PI award. I won't sign blank release. Atty lied. Lvg me w/$700 Defense to deliver check by 9/7/07. Can I fire my atty and pick up the check myself, pay him and liens myself?

You can always fire your attorney, with or without good cause, but they are entitled to be paid as under the terms of the agreement they had you sign at the beginning of representng you. Normally, so not as to get involved in disputes between the plaintiff and their attorney, insurance companies will only issue checks with both names on it. There is one case holding the insurance carrier liable for the attorney fees because they reasonably should have known that the plainiff would stiff the attorney
