Venue
I want to file a civil lawsuit in California. The person I will sue lives Northern California. Does the lawsuit have to be filed in their county, or can it be filed in a nearby county.

Where the defendant lives is just one of the factors to be considered. Venue would be proper in his county but might also be proper elsewhere depending upon the facts of the case.
