Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

wanting stuff back

i went to my relatives house to visit with my mom as i was there i had left a pair of sunglasses worth $228.00 and i called her as soon as i got home to tell her i left them there. she said she would put them where no one could touch it. i have been talking to the daughters and every time i see them they always tell me that they forgot about it and what ever not. it has been about three months since i have called numerous times and asked for them. when i was talking to the daughter she had told me the mom had liked the glasses and wouldn't mind keeping them for herself.. the story has been changing every time i call now they can no longer find my glasses and i want them back. she said she has no idea where they are and i want to know if it would be worth my while to take her to small claims court and would i even have a case.. it is my property (the glasses) i just want that back nothing else..

Re: wanting stuff back

You want to sue a family member over a pair of sunglasses?? Have you considered how this will damage your relationships with these people???

Even if you could prove which daughter has the glasses and win the case, this just doesn't seem worth the aggravation and expense you will have to go through.

Maybe you should just tell their mother what happened. This may seem like snitching, but she'll find out anyway if you sue.

I vote for sueing the bastards. It sound like you have a fair chance of winning the case, small claims court is easy and costs very little, and who wants these creepy people as family anyway.
