Legal Question in Health Care Law in California

call 911 for a friend ( visitor) in life thread and medical bill
I have a friend/visitor monk coming from China and stayed at my house for 7 days. She then felt difficult to breath - So, I called 911 for her. She got 3 weeks severe sickness in hospital with kidney failure and analysis. I amnot the person inviting her to USA - i am not the person sponsoring her. I didnot sign any paper at hospital. So, since she has no insurance. The contract doctor billing dept told me that since I am the one hosting her and order 911 to take her to hospital, I am supposed to pay the bill. I never heard that the house owner is supposed to pay medical bill for a visitor .

I would like to know the law for my situation. Please advice
