Legal Question in Health Care Law in California

Health Insurance Refusal to Pay

Last year I had emergency hernia surgery. My health care provider, United Health Care, has refused to pay a portion of the bill covering an assistant surgeon, stating that they did not feel an assistant surgeon was necessary for this procedure. The billing company has since turned it over to collection without giving me any advance notice. Do I have any legal recourse in this matter? Thank you very much.

Re: Health Insurance Refusal to Pay

Turn the collection matter over to your carrier and demand that they defend you. If they refuse, then pay the bills and sue your carrier for breach of contract and bad faith.

Good luck.
