Legal Question in Health Care Law in California

I am married for 10 years now to my husband who has become addicted to Soma nd Marijuana now for a few years..His weight is down to 152 lbs. and he is 6'2..It is taking a terrible toll on our marriage and I am so worried about him..Can I do anything..I don't want to lose him !! We live is Los Angeles..Thank you..

I am sorry to hear about your situation. I am surprised in that neither Soma (carisoprodol) nor marijuana appears to be associated with the type of severe weight loss you describe. Maybe he has some other, undiagnosed, medical condition. But I am a lawyer, not a physician, and this is really a question for your family doctor.

If he has become a genuine danger to himself or others, you can petition a court to have him put in involuntary treatment. This is not easy to do though, without a criminal conviction related to the drug use, so you may have to turn him in.
