additional income for H1B holder

I recently moved to USA from India (H1B status).I have moved here with my wife. My wife is on H4 status. I live in San Francisco,CA.

1)

Is it legal for a person on H1B visa status to earn money through Network Marketing on inernet ?. This is an international business and all the marketing activities are only through internet.

2)

There are web sites which will pay ($10 to $20) for answering their surveys through Internet. I am interested in doing this. I would like to know whether it is legal for me to make money this way. This is my hobby which also helps me to make a small income. I will be doing this only from my home and will be spending about 1-2 hours per day. My wife is also interested in participating this. Can she do that?
