Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

adjustment to permanent residence

I was categorized as preference 3 of employment immigration and my I-140 was approved on mid-Feb 2002. My I-485 was submitted to the ins on Mar 15, 2002 and the receipt date for it is around April 10, 2002. My advance parole and employment authorization card were approved in the last two months. Based on the current processing time of california service center, when should I expect the authority to issue me the green card? Can I change my job (who initially petitioned the immigration) before I get the green card?

Re: adjustment to permanent residence

Under certain circumstances, applicants with a pending I-485 may change employers. If you are changing your employer, you will need an attorney to help you to ensure those requirements are met. I gladly help you with this. Please contact me at 415-834-1884.

You may also want to check your I-485 case status at the US INS website (this is new and was rolled out only days ago).
