Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

Adjustment of status from F1 visa

My question is this:

I am in the US on a F1 visa and am marrying my boyfriend who I met here. I know that I need to apply for adjustment of status after my marriage. But do I have to file the I-130 form first and wait for their reply and then send in the adjustment of status forms?
