Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

I am an American and would like to live in the EU. for an extended period of time. By way of my grandfather I may be eligible to obtain Italian citizenship. Are there any legal problems with this? If I should need help from the American counsel would they be available in an emergency?

The U.S. does not prohibit it's citizens from having dual citizenship. You will need to check with Italy regarding their rules. As for the American consulate, you should visit the State Department's website for detailed information about access when you are abroad.
