, How do you go about to apply for a green card?

I eecently adopted 16years old child. The state issued me a birth certificate, it is in my hand. I am confused. How do I go about to appy for either for green card or citezenship, since the child has a birth certificate from Sacramento?

If the child was born outside of the United States, you should proceed regardless of the birth certificate.

Even if the adoption was completed before the child's 16th birthday (which is required), the child has to be in your custody and living with you for at least 2 years before you can petition for permanent residence for him or her. If you don't have the 2 years yet, you'll have to wait.
