Change of Alien status of a parent of a newborn in the U.S.

If a child of non-resident is born in the U.S., does/can the newborn automaticaly become a U.S. citizen? How about the parents?

Yes, child is US citizen, but won't be able to help parents until child is 21. Parents continue to be in whatever immigration status they are. Parents get no benefits merely from the birth of child in US.

Any child born in the US gains US citizenship, but they

cannot petition for benefits for parents until they turn 21.
