change of status
How will a change of (my) status from being a green card holder to becoming American citizen will affect the petition for my husband?

Re: change of status
It should help, but best if you work with an immigration attorney and have them go to the interviews with you. Send me more facts and we can discuss your situation, I would not leave unless you know the answer. There is no charge for consultation
Re: change of status
Your husband would become an "immediate relative" and so he would be able to file an I-485 application right away. If you have further questions please email my office directly.
Re: change of status
It will take several years less time! It's a no brainer to become a U.S. citizen if you can and your spouse needs to immigrate.
If the spouse has unlawful presence issues, be mindful of the likelihood of approving those before filing for his permanent residence. If there are, then becoming a U.S. citizen would be for naught.
