Legal Question in Immigration Law in California
child's foodstamps and other rights denied
My 4 year adopted Dominican son's visa which is ''stamped citizenship pending'' was denied food stamps and other rights here in Bakersfield California. Here where the fastest growing popolation is illegal mexicans would not allow him to recieve medicare and he is ashmatic. Please advise what the 2000 child citizenship act covers if not children like him. I was working outside the country, but must regain my health at this time. Can you help me get his citizenship permanent?

No need to consult with an immigration attorney on this issue. The 2000 Child Citizenship Act does not have anything to do with food stamps. It only grants certain children the right to US citizenship under certain conditions. Food stamps is a state program, so your beef is with California, not with the federal government.
Sounds like the state simply wants to see that your son's citizenship is finalized by the INS before they issue him food stamps. Or, maybe he doesn't qualify under food stamps because of some other requirements. So you just have to be patient.
