Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

I am a US citizen and my parents recently got visa to visit me in US. However, my mom will come next month but my dad will come next June before the visa expires. Can I apply green card for my mom first once she arrives and apply green card for my Dad later next year. Or it's recommended to apply both together when both of them are here in US?

Hi,

Each parent is petitioned separately...there is no provision to petition both parents on the same set of paperwork. Therefore, it is OK to first sponsor your mother, but you should not have the intention to sponsor her until some time has passed after her entry. Also note that your Dad already has a multiple-entry visa stamp in his passport, and thus does not need to obtain a new visa stamp from the Consulate solely because you have sponsored your mother.

All paperwork will be filed concurrently including petition for alien relative to be signed by you; adjustment of status application along with employment authorization and advance parole document applications to be signed by the beneficiary, etc.
