Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

Citizen Ship Question

Hi there. I use to work for sears and one day i gave my freinds some clothes and didnt charge him and got caught. Cops came and gave me petty theft ticket. next day i return all the clothes.I went to court, and then went to police station to book my self, i told judge what happen and looking at my record judge told me that if do 40 hrs of community service my case will be dismised. and my case got dismissed later on. after 3 years i applied for citizen ship. when i filed application out they ask me if i was ever arrested and i said no...now i got a letter from immigration saying that fbi backround check says that i have record of arrest. it also says that bring all the original papers from court how that case was resolved... IS this going create problem for me being citizen...What do i need to do...and what do i need to tell them on interview that why i didnt put that on my application.. Can this thing keep me from being citizen? What would be the best advice

Re: Citizen Ship Question

Yes, you may be denied because the arrest, and your failure to disclose the arrest go to whether you are of "good moral character." You absolutely must present the documentation requested and explain why you did not disclose. You probably should retain an attorney to assist you in this matter.
