I became a lpr in august 2005 but had been staying in the u.S since 2000 when can i file for my citizenship

This depends on how you received your permanent residence. It's approximately 5 years as a permanent resident to apply for citizenship, unless you became a LPR by marrying a US citizen (in which case it is 3 years).
