Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

Citizenship and waivers for drug arrest

In Oct 28 1997 I was arrested for drug possession (meth)and being under the influence. It was for personal use. I been an LPR since 1986 and been in this country almost all my entire life, I am now 28 and have not been in trouble since that incident 6 years ago. I would love to be become a citizen . Can I become one? Do I qualify for any waivers or remedies? Do I need a lawyer if for this if I apply for citizenship?

Re: Citizenship and waivers for drug arrest

You need to have some post-conviction relief work done or your criminal records. You may not be eligible for 212 (c) waiver...because it was in 1997...you need to have consulation!!
