Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

Civil Rights/Citizenship/Border Crossings

A U.S. citizen who resides in Tijuana crosses the border every day. On occasions, this individual has been harrassed by U.S. Immigration officials. In one letter to Congresswoman Susan Davis (San Diego), the officials lied that her passport was tattered. Does this person have any Federal rights?

At the border, you've got to do what the inspectors ask you to do if you want to cross the border. Now, if you can prove that they did something like beat you like Rodney King and have it on video, then maybe. But other than that, border inspectors are kings at the border. Best advice: just cooperate.
