Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

Czech dual citizenship

I have permanent residence status in USA. It is illegal to have dual citizenship according to Czech law because I will be getting my US citizenship after my divorce. How can they detect this violation? What is the penalty? Is it worth the risk? Which passport is better if I have to choose one? I will be living in Czech mostly.

Re: Czech dual citizenship

If you will be living out of the US, you may want to consider US citizenship first. The reason for that is that permanent resident status may be lost due to extended time outside of the United States. However, if US citizenship will impact your status in Czech, you may want/need to reconsider your options. If you have further questions or would like a consultation please email or call my office to set a time to talk.
