Legal Question in Immigration Law in California
Can I be eligible/apply for a US citizenship after clearing my record from petty
Stupidly enough I was involved in a petty theft about 11 years ago, was booked, and I pleaded guilty. I was not asked to go to jail, but paid fines and obeyed court intructions flawlessly. Since then I have maintained myself absolutely clean and don't posses anymore police record. Early this year after petitioning I was granted "record clearance" . Couple of months ago I have applied for US citizenship. I know that during FBI fingerprint check my previous record will show up. Will this be a hindrance in getting my citizenship interview? Any help from one of your experts will be greatly appreciative.

One single petty theft conviction should not prevent you from being denied citizenship, especially if the maximum jail sentence was less than one year. You'll be asked about it during the citizenship interview so bring proof that you have been reformed.
