expidite adjustment of status

On 05/17/00 I went the INs services center here in los angeles to expidite my son and my application for ajustment of status since he will be 21 years on 06/13/00.The application was accepted with all fee and a date was given for employment autorization card which was issued 05/23/00 .Since then I haven t heard from them.On the 06/08/00 I went to the service center to see what was going on.I wa s told that nothing can be done for my son because he will be 21 and there is no way his finger print could be done within short time.Is there anything I can do legally?why did INS accept the application knowing that my son will be 21 on 06/13/00.?

Re: expidite adjustment of status

Unfortunately, INS does not guarantee the success of each application. INS as an entity also has no control over the processing time of FBI fingerprint unit. A bill proposed by Rep. Lamar Smith called the "1999 Child Protection Act" may grant your child retroactive adjustment status. You should contact your congressman about this.
