Dear Inquirer:
Your EAD is the document that legally authorizes you to work pending the outcome of your adjustment of status application. Many cases are not approved on the date of the interview, for any number of reasons. If you entered the US on an F-1 visa and never atended classes, the USCIS may be concerned that you never intended to attend classes when you acquired your visa, which would be construed as visa fraud.
