Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

If father deported, his sons deported as well?

I am asking for a friend. He is facing deportation hearings, and he is ok with returning to his own country. But he is worried about his children, because they are in 11th grade about to go to college.

He has E-2 visa, and his family got visa from his visa. And they were in U.S. for 5yrs now. If he gets deported to his country, do the children have to leave too? Or, do they have to find their own way of staying in U.S.? Or, do they just keep their E-2 visa?

Once the beneficiary of an E-2 visa is deported, all his or her dependents will lose their dependent status. There is a proposal in Congress that would allow individuals who have been going to high school and/or college in the U.S. to be able to obtain permanent residence ("green card"). However, this proposal is not an enacted law yet and there is not saying as to when it would become a law, if it ever does.
