Legal Question in Immigration Law in California
i have filed under VAWA and the decision now says denial on internet. I want to know the reason of denial that has been mailed to my lawyer who is not responding to me. I checked the USCIS website online that even if i do an e-inquiry it will go to my lawyers address. Can someone please advice how do i get it from USCIS ASAP as a customer/applicant
1 Answer from Attorneys
USCIS should send a decision both to the attorney of record & the applicant. Furthermore, the attorney is required by law to provide you with a copy of your file.
If the attorney is not cooperating, you might consider filing a complaint against him/her with the California State Bar.
You can either submit a FOIA request (to USCIS) to get a complete copy of your file, or call the 800 USCIS customer service number & see if they will send you a duplicate copy of the decision. See www.USCIS.gov for more details & information.
Good luck!
