Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

I have a friend who has an expired alien/work permit card. He was recently arrested for domestic violence. It was his first offence for domestic violence. He was once arrested for driving with a suspended license and let go. He had court today but when we should up we were informed that he will not have court after all. It seems the charges were dropped but I was told that they were probably dropped because that meant automatic deportation. Is this true?

If your friend is convicted for domestic violence, he might face deportation. We suggest you to consult with an immigration attorney.

No, if the charges were dropped that does not mean automatic deportation. If your friend is concerned about his immigration status, he should consult with an immigration attorney.
