Legal Question in Immigration Law in California
If my friend has a green card and files for an 1-130 to bring her son to the US, does her son need to have an interview at the Embassy of his country? How long does it usually take before the child can join her?

Yes, he will need to be interviewed at the U.S. Consulate or Embassy in his home country.
If he is is under 21, it will take over one year to process his case (the current visa bulletin shows they are working on cases filed July 2010). If he is unmarried & over 21 , it will take over 8 yrs. If he is married, then she cannot petition him until she is a U.S. citizen.
