Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

I am a graduate student in US on F1 visa, I will then need to be sponsored for an H1 by the employer. I was caught shoplifting .I have retained a criminal lawyer to assist with this case but he doesnt have immigration background, so here are my questions related to immigration:

1. Are there any ramifications of this disorderly conduct on immigration, specifically OPT, H1 visa, green card and thereafter citizenship?

2. Will our University get to know about this case if we apply for OPT?

3. What are the ramifications of (1) Disorderly Conduct and (2) ACD on immigration to other countries, specifically Canada, UK or Singapore since we are considering to work in these countries too?

4. Are there other consequences we should be aware of from immigration and employment standpoint for (1) Disorderly Conduct and (2) ACD

5.When our employer performs a BACKGROUND CHECK, will they be able to know that it was a petit larceny even though the case is disposed as a Disorderly Conduct or ACD?

Greetings! I would highly recommend obtaining counsel that has an immigration background. I am sure the lawyer you have now is excellent in criminal matters but your problems seem to stem from immigration issues. I have no idea of your financial situation, but some immigration lawyers work pro-bono. Anyway, let me do some research on your questions and I will be back with an answer to each. Some of them are quite complex and I need to wait until tomorrow so I can call some people; today is Easter and I can't contact the courts until tomorrow. Will be in touch...

Hi. Criminal-immigration matters are complex and require careful consideration of your entire family, immigration and criminal history. As well, such determinations are fluid since you are still in the criminal process and what plea offers are submitted can change. You're best suited to hire a crimmigration lawyer to represent you and advise you on the immigration consequences of your criminal case.
