Green card through relatives

Hello,

I am a US citizen and would like to apply for green card for my brother. He is currently on H1 visa. My question is: If I apply for him, during the time he is waiting for his visa number(~10yrs), can he stay and work in the US if he leaves his current employer? Thank you very much.

Not at all. He needs to independently stay in status.

By applying for your brother you will not be conferring any immediate benefit on him. He will have to maitain legal status on his own until a visa number becomes available to him. If he leaves his current employer he will be out of status unless another employer takes over and sponsors him for an H-1.
