Green cards for UK citizens
I am working in California for a reputed architecture firm. I came to the US as a student and have been on the F1 for the past two and half years. I just have had the H1 approved.
I am a citizen of UK by birth having lived most of my life in India. Hence I am not very sure how UK citizens can apply for green cards, what the time period of wait is, what the procedure is and when I can apply. Can anyone give me some information that could help me out with this?

There is obviously no special rules for UK citizens not even for canadians...like everyone else you have to go through labor certification process then apply for greencard. Take a look at my site at www.lawyers.com/amygfhosh

There are a number of ways that a person can become a permanent resident in the United States. Some examples are through labor certification, marraige, national interest waiver, extraordinary ability, etc. Most people, including UK citizens, fall under the labor certification route. Labor certification is the longest route and takes about 3 years to go from labor certification to permanent residence. In the interim, you can extend that H-1 until you eventually file for permanent residence. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
