H1b expiration
If the person's H1b is expiring ( approaching the 6 years period) Can the company hire the same person under some other profession ? Like an engineer be hired as photographer on another H1b ?

The maximum H1B period is 6 years. But there are some exeptions. If during your H1B period, you were outside of US for a prolonged period of time, or you have a labor certification or immigration petition pending for more than 1 year, then you will be able to extend your H1B beyond the 6-y limit. Otherwise, you cannot renew your H1B any more unless you spend one year outside of US.
