Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

H1-B Involuntary termination.

My current employer has said that 8th December will be my last date because my current term on H1B visa expires on December 8th and they are not going to renew it.The reason to not extend is the headcount problems in the department. There was no other justification given saying that they are not going to continue to sponsor the h1 visa anymore.I feel that I was made an innocent victim and my department just proved that they are good cost cutters without justifying such an employment cut which has a deep impact on me.When I asked about ''lay me off'' instead doing this, the reply given to me was ''we are not laying you off as we need you till 8th December''. I have got a feeling that company is not interested in paying me off the severance and want the other employees to pick up my knowledge till 8th December and then get away without paying me off the benefits of package arising due to Involuntary termination. Is there something which can be done to protect myself here ?

Thanks in Advance.

Thanks

Sham

Re: H1-B Involuntary termination.

8th december is still far away...you can easily transfer to another company. You can not force them to keep you!!!
