Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

H-1B Visa and Marriage

Hello,

I am here from Canada on an H-1B

Visa and I am getting married in a

few months. My fiance is a U.S.

citizen. What do I have to do

afterwards because I know there is

some paperwork I have to file, but

I'm not sure what it is. With the

current visa, I can only work for the

company that sponsored me and

after I get married, I want to be able

to do some other jobs on the side.

Thank you very much for your

assistance.

You need to assemble and file a package with the Immigration Service. The forms you need to fill out are:

I-130

I-485

I-765

I-864

G-325

Good luck.

Adjustment of status would allow you to apply for lawful permanent residence through marriage to a US citizen.
