The current processing time for a U.S. citizen petitioning for a parent is approximately 5 months. I recommend that you consult with an experienced immigration attorney to make sure the process goes smoothly with limited delays. My office is experienced in family-based petitions. Allow several months for the immigrant petition to be approved by the USCIS, and then a couple of additional months for consular processing to actually be issued immigrant visa (green card). Information about family sponsorship categories is here: www.h1b1.com/sponsor.htm
