Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

Home Business and Applying for green card

Currently, I live in California on H1B visa. I also am co-owner of a company in my homeland. I do not do any work for the company in homeland but I do receive a compensation from the company as a co-owner.

1. Is the fact that I co-own a company in my home country going to be a problem when my curreny company in California sponsors my green card?

2. Currently, I pay taxes as a capital gain from the profits I make from the company in homeland. Is this the best way?

The fact that you own a company abroad should not affect a potential application for permanent residence. As to your tax questions, please consult a tax attorney for more accurate advice.
