Legal Question in Immigration Law in California
am I illegal?
I have worked under a Q1 visa (cultural representative) for disneyworld, florida. I have cut my contract recently, and my employer sent me a letter saying that I had to leave the territory ''as soon as possible''. though, the immigration paper (white) in my passport says that I am allowed to stay until december, 12th 2006 (I arrived on sept, 13th 2006, Q1=15months). so far as disneyworld did not give me any precise answer about this ''obligation to leave the territory as soon as possible'', I wanted to know if I am staying at one of my relatives' place in california until the end of the visa limit written on my passport, am I illegal? I know that I am not allowed to work, but am I allow to stay here? thank you for your answers in advance.

Re: am I illegal?
Technically, once your employment is terminated, your visa status is also terminated and you must leave the U.S. immediately unless you change your status (to another temporary visa) or apply for permanent residence (through an immediate relative petition.
