Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

immigrant husband's child

My husband is an immigrant and became a permanent resident through our marriage. We separated awhile ago, and during that time he had a child with another woman. The other woman is receiving child support from him through the court system but I think she may be on welfare as well.

My question: Am I financially responsible as his sponsor for paying for her welfare? He is not on welfare, but his child may be.

Re: immigrant husband's child

No, you signed an affidavit of support regarding him, and an children that may have been included in the affidavit of support, but not future children. However, it would be in your interest for him to naturalize as soon as he is eligible to do so, as that will end your commitment on the affidavit of suppport.
