An adult U.S. citizen child over 21 years old can petition for a parent. If you entered legally and can prove it, then you should not have a problem adjusting status in the United States, as long as you can prove you are the biological father of the child. If you were married to the child's mother at the child's birth, and you are on the birth certificate, then the issue of legitimation should not be a problem either.
