Legal Question in Immigration Law in California
An immigrant with a 2yr residence visa was driving under the influence of methamphetamine, he was detained by a Kern County sheriff and a blood test was administered. He was released within 12 hours of the arrest. This was the first time the immigrant consummed methamphetamine and states that he's not an addict and marital problems with his wife (which is an american citizen) are what led him to ingage in trying the drug to aid his stress. He is going to NA meetings in hopes it might help his case. What are the possible outcomes of this case, and is there anything that can help fight this offence?

Conviction for possession of a controlled substance such as meth can lead to deportation proceedings and mandatory detention (no bond during those deportation proceedings). Hire a criminal immigration lawyer to represent him or at least advise the criminal lawyer on the immigration consequences of any criminal conviction.
We suggest you to consult with an immigration attorney because the possession of methamphetamine might impact his immigration status.
