Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

immigration, divorce and spousal support

Hello, I am an American woman. I married a British man and we were married for 7 months and separated for 8 months until I filed for divorced. Now he's back to try and win spousal support. Is this possible?

Re: immigration, divorce and spousal support

I do not believe that California distinguishes whether the spouse is a citizen or not if the spouse is entitled to spousal support as long as the couple were residing here in California. However, it would be best if you ask a family-law attorney regarding the issue of whether your ex-husband is even entitled to spousal support for such a short marriage.
