Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

i am a 17 and half year old high school graduate i need a job to go to college and im highly interested in the marines the only thing stoping me from elisting is i have no paperwork at all no birth certificate or anything i was abandonned by my parents another family who was close to mine picked me up but did not legally adopt me ive been in the U.S. since 1999 and ive been in school ever since i have no criminal record at all and have no drug or alchohol problems they migrated here to the u.s. and they are all legal residents but me???
