Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

Hello there

I am an Indian citizen currently working for company A on L1 visa which as well as the I-94 expires on September 25,2007. Meanwhile, my H1B visa is being processed by another company B. Assuming I get the H1B approval, is it possible for me to stay back in US till October 1, 2007 (without an I-94) and start working for company B from October 1st?? Or do I need to go back to India and come again with H1B visa stamped??

You can definitely stay back as you will only accumulate a week of illegal stay.
